The Harlem Renaissance marked the time when many African Americans found some status
in America. During this time, many African Americans found some sort of achievement or person to be proud of (they excelled in the arts and music especially). Many African Americans moved to northern cities to find jobs. By the 1920s Harlem, NY had become the largest African American community in America.
